A fourth generation Victorian, raised in Cadboro Bay, Kristel has always had a love for the Island and its coastal surroundings. Academics and her early career coaxed her away for a while to explore Los Angeles and Vancouver, but she soon returned home to Victoria.
Kristel continues to refine her skills under the expert guidance of her mentor, Leslee Farrell.
