On the personal side ...
Leslee Finds a Place to Call Home
From the sea, one gets a unique perspective of the land that swells from it. This approach allows one to “step outside” and observe the area in its most fundamental sense. Leslee first discovered Victoria from a sailboat and she knew right away that it would be an excellent place to raise her son in safety, beauty and charm — a place to call home. The breathtaking views, crystal-clear skies and diversity of homes dotting the countryside all capture the essence of Victoria’s special spirit.
A passion for sailing brought Leslee from Vancouver to Victoria back in 1980, but it is the area’s warmth and atmosphere that have kept her here. Surrounded by the ocean she loves, she has found it to be very cosmopolitan, yet free of the hassle of large city living. She has enjoyed its exciting but gentle growth and is enthusiastic about its bright future.
Helping Others Achieve Their Residential Needs
Leslee has channeled her adventuresome personality and love of the area into a successful career in real estate. She prides herself on helping others fulfill their residential needs in and around Victoria, and to realize the one-of-a-kind lifestyle that she herself found here so long ago. Today, she is an associate in the offices of Newport Realty. In 2006, much to her delight, her son Sean followed in her footsteps, joining her executive team as a licensed realtor.
A Friendly Spirit Attracts Other Friendly Spirits
Leslee has a friendly spirit that makes her a pleasure to work with. Her compassion and drive to help others motivates her to always go above and beyond what is expected in an agent. In addition, her background in psychology and teaching has provided her with a rare, professional empathy and the ability to relate to the many emotions people experience when buying or selling a home. In the words of one of her clients, “She has an uncanny ability to instantly connect with people. I knew from the first time I met Leslee that I would feel very comfortable working with her and that she is someone I would trust as a friend as well.” Indeed, many of Leslee’s clients have become her friends.
Experience Provides Exceptional Insight
Sailing has long been Leslee’s hobby of choice; in fact, she’s even spent weeks at a time living on her boat and sailing around the waters of Vancouver Island. “Each day is a new adventure on the water,” says Leslee. “You can never take anything for granted. It is very challenging and there is a great feeling of accomplishment in getting from one place to another. I believe the goal is as much in creating the successful journey as it is in arriving at your destination.”
This enthusiasm and understanding also plays a major role in her business career. Just as in sailing, the real estate currents are always changing and each day brings with it new and exciting challenges. An experienced realtor can recognize whether changes are indicative of a trend, a wave, a bump in the horizon, a plateau, or even a shift in the industry. Experience has taught Leslee to always consider the big picture and has given her an uncommon insight into the constant movements within the real estate market.
As a seasoned professional, Leslee lends a steady hand to the proceedings to make for a smooth and trouble-free transaction. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding your move, Leslee will steer you in the right direction.
On the business side…
Following an eight-year career in teaching as a graduate of Simon Fraser University (B of Ed, majoring in Psychology), Leslee shifted her goals and decided to change both her career and her lifestyle. After moving to Victoria and becoming a licensed realtor in 1980, she quickly became one of Victoria’s top producers and her love of the city grew stronger. Her move proved to be the right choice straight away.
1980-1988: Became Top Producer of Newport Realty.
1988-2002: Joined RE/MAX as an associate and owner of RE/MAX ports west in August 1988. Her company consistently won the #1 in sales per capita award from the Victoria Real Estate Board (VREB), a record never before set by a single firm (30 associates). Leslee herself won every available award in the RE/MAX sales system.
2003-2006: As an established specialist in the luxury home, waterfront and estate market, Leslee saw an opportunity to become the best in the field by focusing her efforts and repositioning herself as the premiere authority on waterfront and luxury home real estate. Moving forward, she sold her company and became an associate with Newport Realty, expanded her executive team and network of professionals, and created a successful, high-profile website that caters to both her local clientele as well as international buyers. Knowing that she needed to offer a full range of services, Leslee designed a concierge-style package, including interpreters, detailed immigration information and more.
In 2006, she added the highest honour to her repertoire of awards. She was recognized by the VREB for her incredible achievement: she has won the Gold Award, which represents the highest volume of sales, every year for the past 25 years.
2007 and beyond: Leslee stays on top of the ever-changing trends and challenges in real estate through constant professional development, education and research. As Victoria becomes even more of a global destination city for those seeking a lifestyle change, buyers will always find Leslee’s impressive list of suitable real estate choices, from waterfront estates to harbour condos. Leslee will continue to fine-tune and grow her boutique service, building on the success she has already established through years of experience, and she will pass on that knowledge to her team.
Community Involvement and Highlights
In keeping with her philosophy of helping others, Leslee views charity work as a personal commitment that helps to keep her life in balance. Her continual contribution and active involvement in fundraising for a variety of organizations and charities within Victoria shows her dedication in giving back to the community that has helped her to succeed in her own career. Philosophy for Success
Begin with good communications skills, add excellent service, think “client first, second and always!” and be able to apply “big-picture thinking.” These are the roots of professionalism. From there, Leslee puts her heart into her work, because she has a profound sense of enjoyment when being of worthwhile assistance to others. “I absolutely love my work,” she says emphatically. With her repeat referral business at an all-time high, there’s no doubt Leslee’s philosophy works well.
